Blood Red Shoes are a two-piece rock band from Brighton, England.
Consisting of Steven Ansell (vocals and drums) and Laura-Mary Carter (vocals and guitar), they formed in 2005 after their previous bands (Cat On Form and Lady Muck respectively) had broken up and they decided to "have a jam"[1]. They have performed over 200 live shows to date and released four 7" records on different independent labels (Jonson Family, Try Harder, Abeano/XL, Drowned in Sound) in this time. They are currently signed to V2 with whom they released their current single "It's Getting Boring By The Sea" on 11 June, and will release their debut album with. They were also on the 2007 NME New Music Tour with The Rumble Strips, The Little Ones, and Pull Tiger Tail.

[edit] Trivia
Their name comes from the story that Ginger Rogers had to re-do a tap dance scene so many times that the camera man asked whether she'd changed out of her white shoes into some red ones. She hadn't, it turned out she'd danced so hard they were covered in blood.
Laura-Mary was once asked to join The Go! Team.
Steven Ansell once recounted in an interview an incident where he urinated in members of Electro band Robots In Disguise's drinks backstage at a concert while they were performing (drinks that they later apparently drank), as the band had been rude to him.[citation needed]
